What to choose at the Christmas parties....

So, with the party season coming up, who knows what to go for at the buffet table and who doesn't? What are the healthier options to keep you looking good in that LBD?  Take a look.....

Olives V's Candied Nuts

V's

Both olives and the candied nuts do contain healthy fats - so in this case, we need to go on calories! Opt for the olives as the have a lot less calories!  30 calories in 6 large olives as opposed to 170 calories in a small handful of the nuts!

Mozzerella sticks V's Brie and Crackers

V's

Whole wheat crackers with 1/2 oz of brie have HALF the calories and salt of the mozzerella sticks!  They also contain less fat! So ditch the sticks and opt for the crackers!

Chicken wings V's Pigs in blankets

V's

Go for the wings!!  The sausages have much more saturated fat than the chicken, then on top of that, if you have the pigs in blankets with the pastry instead of the bacon, the pastry is usually made with white flour which contributes to insulin spikes!

Champagne Punch V's Mulled Wine

V's

This one surprised us......the mulled wine is the better option!  Usually, when you chose between wine or champagne then its the champagne as the healthier option.  But in this case, because the punch will have added fruit juice, it bumps the sugar content up massively!  Often, ginger ale is added to the punch as well so this also increases the sugar and calorie content!  Where as the mulled wine has very little, if any added sugar.

Spinach Dip V's Mexican Layer Dip

V's

The Mexican dip has a lot of healthy, nutritious ingredients. It contains beans, avocado and salsa where as the spinach dip just contains one healthy ingredients which is obviously the spinach.

Along side all these choices, don't forget your LotusLite Christmas 3 Step Plan of Attack - using these over the Christmas period will help you keep on track with your weight!
